6 Social Media Recommendations for Your Service-Based Business During The COVID-19 Era

In early 2020, the world changed drastically due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, at the end of September, the world is still feeling the repercussions of what began in the beginning of the year. Many small businesses, restaurants and even department stores fell into the problem of bankruptcy or closing down temporarily, or forever.

When the world began to open again, so did some of those businesses, restaurants and if they were lucky enough, department stores. With the reopening of these establishments came the fear from the public about what kind of safety precautions were being taken to ensure both customers and employees would remain healthy amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

This blog post will give you some recommendations on how to enhance your social media presence to ensure that the public knows that they will be safe in your establishment.

BOOSTING YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Recommendation #1:  Post photos of employees wearing appropriate PPE (i.e. masks and gloves), while remaining socially distant from others.

Customers are more likely to feel safe and comfortable in an establishment if employees are following proper COVID-19 safety protocols. If employees are following safety protocols, customers will feel more inclined to, as well.

Recommendation #2: Keep customers informed about cleaning schedules. For instance, posting photos of cleaning schedules or video walkthroughs of each area being cleaned.

All establishments should have hourly cleaning schedules that provide a deep cleaning of the entire store several times a day. Customers would prefer to be informed about what these cleaning regulations include, rather than having no idea what is being cleaned regularly.

Recommendation #3: Post photos or videos of your establishment partaking in regular temperature checks of employees and all customers that enter the building.

One of the number one signs of COVID-19 is having a fever. Establishments should be checking on everyone who enters the building before they enter the building. If the customer has a fever of 100.00 degrees or higher, they will not be allowed in the building and each establishment should make that rule known to the public.

Recommendation #4: Post photos of signs saying “Masks Required” around your establishment.

By posting these photos, you are letting potential customers know that patrons are not allowed in your establishment UNLESS they have a mask or some sort of face covering.

Recommendation #5: Post photos of sanitization stations around your establishment.

Potential customers will see the accessibility of these sanitization stations and feel more at ease about entering your establishment.

Recommendation #6: Keep potential customers informed about any changes in the hours of operation at your establishment.

There is nothing worse than Googling a business, thinking they close at 10 p.m. and arriving at 8 p.m. only to find out they have already closed. Update your Google My Business listing with new hours of operation.

The number one way to get customers into your establishment is by keeping them informed and one of the best ways to do that is via social media. Social media has become a major part of everyday life and by utilizing social media, you are keeping your audience informed about potential changes and topics they may be interested in.
