How to Shoot IGTV Videos for Your Business and Why Businesses are Getting on Board

It’s undeniable: IGTV is the new trend!

Compared to posting 30-second videos to Instagram feeds, IGTV gives you the opportunity to produce long-form videos that can run up to one hour. To give viewers an ultimate viewing experience, IGTV can be accessed on iOS and Android devices, and videos are displayed in vertical thumbnails. The clean interface features suggested videos, popular content, and a menu to post your video on.

To use IGTV, you need to have an Instagram account. Click the TV icon to access IGTV, located on the upper right hand corner of the Instagram homepage. All content is accessible in one place, making it easier for the audience to find videos they want to watch from the brands or accounts that they already follow.

Although IGTV allows you to upload an hour-long video, the recommended length is up to three minutes. The general rule of thumb is to try to capture your audience’s attention from the time your video plays up to 15 seconds. Your audience won’t stay with you for long if they don’t find the information they need or the content doesn’t engage them from the moment they set their eyes on the first few seconds of the video.

What makes IGTV appealing for small businesses? Small business, Instagram Video, Instagram TV, marketing, social media

What makes IGTV appealing for small businesses?

IGTV is intuitive and straightforward to use. Just like on a television show, creators have their own channel. As soon as viewers click the IGTV icon, videos will automatically broadcast from the accounts or brands they follow.

IGTV is not only designed for famous Instagrammers and influencers. Any users, including e-commerce industries, law firms, doctors, and other businesses offering services, can use the app. If you are a brand looking to engage with your followers, IGTV is a great way to do so.

Small businesses can take advantage of uploading long-form videos on IGTV so they can share more information about their company and services. It is worth mentioning that IGTV allows content creators to add a CTA on their videos, and links to drive traffic to their website or social media platforms. These strategies are great ways to increase brand awareness and help with your marketing campaign.

According to Statista, the number of digital viewers in the United States is projected to reach more than 236 million by 2020. By taking advantage of IGTV, you are on the right track!

Thanks to the improvements that Instagram has made recently, content creators can now post a one-minute preview of their IGTV video to their Instagram news feed. Once the viewer taps on the video, it will enable them to watch the full content. That leads to increased viewership and engagement!

How to Shoot IGTV videos for your business, why your business should be on IGTV video, Social Channel Agency, social media, social marketing

Here are 6 key tips that will help you produce irresistible IGTV videos for your business!

1. Good lighting

When creating a video, it is always important to shoot in natural lighting. Aim to have a window in front of you during your recording. If you need to shoot at night, or there is a scarcity of natural light, a 16 or 18 inch ring light or a bright lamp will help. Ring lights help provide a balanced effect to eliminate harsh angles and shadows while brightening your face. Avoid having a window or a lamp behind you unless you have enough lighting in front of you to offset the light behind you.

2. Camera placement

The position of your camera matters! Feel free to position yourself in different angles where you feel comfortable. Make sure that the camera is placed a few feet away; put some space on the sides and across the top of the video frame. Having a second person to give their honest feedback about how different positions impact the feel and look of the video helps, too. Keep in mind that videos can be either horizontal or vertical for IGTV. Choose one and do your best to stick to it. Videos that will also be shared on YouTube should be recorded in horizontal format in order to optimize the screen size.

3. Build rapport with your audience

Although you may need to have a script when you start out, use it as a guide. It is important to add a personal touch to whatever you say. This helps deliver your message genuinely and gain the audience’s trust. If you are using your video to promote your products or acquire more leads, provide a clear message while making your audience feel that you are talking to them directly.

4. Brief introduction

The introduction helps make people aware about your company. Provide a brief description of what your company does and how it helps or serves clients or customers. Be consistent in the introduction of each IGTV video, while being concise. Your introduction is like your 10-second pitch. It’s okay to repeat the same or similar intro for each video.  You don’t want to assume your viewers have seen any of your past videos.

5. Discuss the challenges and solutions

Know your audience. One reason people consume content is because they are searching for solutions to their problems. Discuss their challenges, and offer real tips and solutions that can help them.

6. Call-to-action

After delivering your message, make sure that your audience will take action to implement what you have discussed. You can ask them to book a consultation, visit your website for additional information, or subscribe to your newsletter to keep them updated. This step won’t only convert leads into customers but it can also help you continue building a relationship with them.
