How to Use Instagram Reels to Market Your Business

If you are looking for a new way to market your business, look no further than the Instagram Reels feature. The engagement and views on Reels is skewing much higher than other types of posts on Instagram which is just one of the many reasons why you should use Reels.

Tik Tok first launched a similar video option to share short videos. This model proved to be a powerful tool for businesses to grow their followers and customer base, organically. Instagram then hopped on the train and gave us Reels. Why is using IG Reels a great way to grow your business? We’ll tell you why.

To start, already having an Instagram following for your business gives you a leg up. Whereas with Tik Tok you may be starting fresh, you can use the Reels feature to engage followers you already have, as well as bring in new business.

Social media users these days don’t want to sit through a ten-minute long talking-head video where someone explains a product in detail. Using short, fun videos to give them a taste of how to use it will engage your audience, and for new viewers, it should get them to explore more of your content.

Instagram has long since been a still picture posting platform until the introduction of the Stories feature on the app. Reels will not disappear as Instagram Stories do, so your audience can go back to engage with them repeatedly and share them with friends.

With that being said, Reels is a neat tool because you can reuse content from your other social media platforms. It doesn’t have to be a brand-new video of photo and having it all in one place with your Instagram posts makes it easier to keep track of everything. So, now that we know that using Reels is going to be great for business, let’s look at some ways to use the platform to your advantage.

  1. Educational/How-To Videos. If you’re selling a product, your audience will probably have some questions on how to use it. Reels are a short and easy way to make videos explaining how to use your products. If you’re selling an item for the home, you can show how to assemble and use it.
  2. Behind the Scenes. Customers love getting a look at how the products are made, and what the people making them are like. Sharing behind-the-scenes videos with your audience will add a human element to your product, and they will feel like they are getting exclusive access to the process. For service-based businesses, you can also share behind the scenes video of you and your team ‘doing the work. For example, if you are a doctor or medical care provider, you could share shore videos of your team doing anything from greeting patients, cleaning for COVID, celebrating team members, and more. If recording video of patients, be sure to get their consent, of course.
  3. Your Story. Going along with the human element aspect, if you’re running a small business, share your story! Your customers will love getting to know you and the story behind why you do what you do. Share why you entered your field. What a typical day is like. Hobbies or interests outside of work. The possibilities are endless!
  4. Reviews. Your customers will find video reviews more engaging than digging through reviews written on a web page. For example, you can upload reviews users have done of your products and tag them in it to share with other members of your audience.

Tips for Creating A Reel on Instagram

  • You can record short videos and upload as clips in Reels, or you can use your mobile device camera to record and end the recording of a video clip within the app itself.
  • Reels can either be 15 seconds or 30 seconds long. Once you upload your videos, trim clips to create a short series of videos.
  • Get creative! Add music, stickers, or text. You can use the slider feature button to move the artwork to the desired place in the clip.
  • Select a video cover and write a caption designed to help visitors find your Reels clip while exploring Instagram. Remember to add a few hashtags as well.

To sum it up, using Instagram Reels is an excellent way to market your business. If you already have Instagram, all you must do is start using that feature along with your regular posts. Try some of these methods out and let us know how it goes!
